On 23 September 2026 at Harvest Coast, Zhanjiang, Guangdong held its Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Shenzhen NONGKEYU Seed Co. Ltd. exhibited for Shenzhen and spoke to mobile TV program First Scene on high-folate fresh corn and in-house breeding.
01 Provincial harvest fair: Shenzhen seed companies on the floor
This year marks the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and a pivotal year for Guangdong’s provincial rural-revitalization program. Provincial leaders attended the main event, joined by heads of municipal agriculture departments, agribusinesses and buyers from across Guangdong to celebrate the harvest in Zhanjiang.
The event also launched the “Guangdong Goods Go Nationwide · South China Celebrates Harvest” autumn farm-produce consumption season. Offline harvest markets and online promotions showcased Lingnan specialties, modern marine-ranch products, premium agri-brands, “Yue” branded produce, local foods and specialty crops—linking producers with markets so more quality farm goods reach households.
At the harvest market, NONGKEYU represented Shenzhen’s agri-tech enterprises in the Shenzhen pavilion and drew growers and buyers.
02 High-folate fresh corn at the harvest market
In the Shenzhen pavilion, NONGKEYU’s naturally high-folate corn became a crowd favorite. Fresh corn was steamed and tasted on site, winning praise for its sweet-waxy flavour; processed products such as fresh-corn noodles also debuted, presenting a clear seed-to-table value chain.
NONGKEYU’s Nongke Nuo 336 has been listed among the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs’ leading varieties for three consecutive years—showcasing the group’s depth in functional corn breeding.

03 On-camera: 28 years of in-house germplasm work
During the event, NONGKEYU representatives were interviewed by mobile TV’s First Scene. On camera, holding fresh corn, they shared the company’s 28-year focus on proprietary germplasm and the sweet-waxy taste of naturally high-folate corn—nutritious and delicious.
Behind a simple interview lies 28 years of steady work. From a single seed to an ear of corn, NONGKEYU repeated that seed is a strategic input for agriculture.
04 28 years of proprietary corn germplasm
As a Shenzhen-based seed company, NONGKEYU has spent 28 years on proprietary corn germplasm and independent innovation. A winner of the Shen Nong Award—often called the “Oscar” of China’s corn sector—it is a key force in domestic fresh-corn breeding.
Naturally high-folate corn is one of NONGKEYU’s flagship achievements. Folate matters for maternal and infant health; through breeding, NONGKEYU makes corn naturally rich in folate—so everyday meals can help top up folate intake.
One seed connects household tables and the future of agricultural modernization. Over 28 years, NONGKEYU has shown that self-reliant, controllable germplasm is the hard-core strength of an agri-tech company.
05 Trade links: moving Shenzhen seed into new markets
The Harvest Festival is both a showcase and a trade window. Agriculture departments, wholesale markets, major retailers, e-commerce platforms and supply-and-marketing cooperatives from across the province gathered on site. NONGKEYU used the opportunity to deepen talks with Guangdong buyers and expand B2B customers and partnerships for fresh corn.
Leveraging the autumn consumption season’s online–offline promotion, NONGKEYU will keep building its brand and bringing products such as naturally high-folate corn into more homes.
From Shenzhen to Zhanjiang, from the lab to the harvest market, the harvest story of a corn seed continues to unfold across South China. Looking ahead, NONGKEYU will stay rooted in Shenzhen, deepen its seed business, support seed self-reliance through in-house breeding, and support rural revitalization with quality varieties.
